Each month Avery will hold a meeting just for ward 3 residents to come and learn more about what's going on with their city government. And how their Aldermanic candidate is fighting to protect the interest of the ward. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and have a conversation about issues important to them with Avery. Information for those meetings will be posted here on this website.

That way ward 3 residents can find out about the latest on all the fun and exciting things that go on right here in Manchester. And stay informed on what's going on with their city government.

On this website residents will be able to book appointments with their Aldermanic candidate. That way they can chat with Avery about any concern they have about the city. Avery cares about his neighbors and will do everything he can to address your concerns.

Avery will be at all the board meeting as an observer and will also testify during the public comment on various city initiatives and issues. <h2>Important note about door knocking.</h2><h4>The campaign will do door knocking to meet voters whenever possible. Unfortunately though it is difficult for the campaign to do so because Ward 3 is made up of mostly apartment buildings. Apartment buildings are not usually possible to access for political door knocking. Therefore we must utilize all other channels to reach voters. That will be outlined in the section.</h4>

It is registered with the city and is a registered non profit with the IRS. It is for the express purpose of getting Avery elected to represent Ward 3 in Manchester, NH as Alderman. From my parents’ divorce at a young age and my mother moving us to a new place at the time, Manchester. To coming out to my family as a gay man. To surviving a near death experience in an auto accident. To learning how to make it on my own in an unforgiving world right after high school. Despite all that I’ve navigated all those adversities and have managed to make a life for myself that I can call my own.</h3>When I was in the 6th grade my mother moved me and my two sisters to Manchester so that she could have an easier time finding jobs close by to where we lived. There was a time when she struggled to put food on the table. She had to apply for SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistances Program) benefits to make sure we got enough to eat. It’s because of programs like SNAP that we were able to get by while my mom went to school and waitressed at the same time. After she finished going to school to become a surgical technician she was able to provide more easily for me and my sisters. It’s because of her courage despite being harassed at work and the death of my grandmother that showed me that anyone can improve their circumstance in life with hard work and grit.This especially was an important lesson for me when I finished high school. I’ve been working ever since I was a senior. I started working at TJ Maxx as a store associate and was promoted to the front-end supervisor position after a year there. I helped at least 1,000 customers a month there. I learn so much about helping people and working with irate customers. I continued to build upon these skills at my subsequent jobs. After 2 years at TJ Maxx I moved to Natick, MA where I lived for a year. I got a job working at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston working in customer service. There I got to experience being in a workers union and working through a high-tension negotiation with museum management, that eventually led to us workers going on strike. After I moved from Massachusetts to Deerfield, NH I did a lot of food deliver gigs with Instacart and Door dash. But soon I got a job working at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Manchester, working in guest services. There I worked with the public more and got the opportunity to help people in need of temporary housing. At the same time I learned how to manage a hotel’s room inventory. In addition they had me work the overnight shift, in those shifts I would be responsible for the whole hotel and ensured all the guests were safe while at the hotel.<img src="https://run.imgix.net/26ac3b17-5691-4b29-bae2-bf2101edc555/ff8911df-fa3d-4f96-87d2-5b9555e96960/ff8911df-fa3d-4f96-87d2-5b9555e96960.jpeg?ixlib=js-3.8.0&amp;bri=0&amp;con=0&amp;sat=0&amp;high=0&amp;shad=0&amp;usm=0&amp;rect=219%2C278%2C2288%2C2722&amp;w=1500" alt="" caption="" align="left" alignwidth="40" tiltdirection="left" variant="framed">After working at the hotel for about a year I got an opportunity to work in utilities. There I worked a lot with customers in need of energy public assistance. I enjoyed that part of my job there because I got the opportunity to help people get the assistance they needed and educated them on other ways to get caught up with their electric and gas bill. While I worked there though I learned how uncompassionate the management team can be towards low-income customers. And I also gained a better understanding of how utility companies set their rates. Because of all this I feel that private electric distributors shouldn’t be entrusted with a monopoly in the communities they serve. They answer to their investors not the communities. If the state or towns controlled the grid then any profits made could be put back into the system to bring down energy costs. And if the state as a whole buys electricity from suppliers then everyone in NH could get a much lower energy bill. Because the state could buy in a much bigger bulk size versus 3 separate electric companies buying electricity just for their customers within NH. Avery believes every resident deserves to feel safe when walking out on the streets or simply being at home. That's why he's going to work with the city police to ensure they have enough funding to patrol neighborhoods sufficiently to protect everyone.

A safer city

Avery is the only renter running for an Aldermanic seat. He knows the struggle of the average renter because he's one of them. He also knows many people in the city have struggled to find affordable and decent housing. Avery is going to fight for the state and federal government to finance more affordable housing projects. And Avery will expand access to temporary low income housing and encourage developers to build more housing with smaller unit sizes so they can bring rents down to $900 and below monthly. So that young, senior, and other vulnerable people can afford them.

More affordable housing

Sometimes in life people have unforeseen events that can cause them to struggle to provide for themselves. Or people sometimes aren't born into a well off family. Avery has been there and knows the struggle to simply live in difficult circumstances while also trying to go to school and find a path to a better life. Sometimes all a person needs for a better life is assistance from the government to help them while they make that transition. That's why Avery will advocate for Medicaid, SNAP, and energy assistance programs to be properly funded so everyone in Manchester can have a chance at a better life.

Advocating for programs for low income residents

As of 2022 the city spends $17,734 per pupil according to the National Center for Education Statistics. Avery is going to bring that level to be more on par with the state average of $21,545 per pupil. He will fight for more funding from the Federal and State governments. To keep class sizes under 30 pupils per teacher. And ensure every student has access to healthy lunches at no cost to students.

Improve education standards

With the passage of the "Big Ugly Bill" in Congress and the cuts from the state budget there's a real danger that Medicaid will no longer cover treatment for substance misuse in NH. Avery is going to fight to ensure the state continues to fund substance misuse treatment and/or that the city will help fill in the gap where Medicaid won't for treatment.

Manchester is already a destination for good food at our many restaurants, our tax free shopping, and we're close to many of New Hampshire's ski areas. Avery has a vision to attract more travelers to the city that will stimulate the local economy and provide us with more tax revenue. By encouraging more airlines to fly out of MHT, increasing bus service from Boston, and advocating for MBTA commuter rail and/or Amtrak service to Manchester, Avery plans to make it easier for tourists to visit Queen City. Not only that he will encourage investors to build attractions and host more events in Manchester's many venues. This will build up Manchester's economy well into the future and make us NH's top destination.

Bring in more visitors and businesses

The city government needs to ensure every penny in the budget is spent on bettering the lives of the people of Manchester, NH. Avery is going to work day and night to ensure that. He will not agree with any proposal in increasing the tax rates in the city, without giving ward 3 residents a chance to speak with Avery and learn more about how the new tax revenue would help ward 3 and the city.

As an animal rights advocate Avery knows all animals deserve to be treated humanly. That's why he will fight to ban the declawing of animals in Manchester. Declawing is a torturous procedure done to cats and dogs to try and get them to behave. When in reality declawing them causes them immense pain and suffering and doesn't solve any behavioral problems to begin with. Many similar measures have already been passed in municipalities and states across the country. Fighting for animal rights and end declawing

As an openly gay man himself, Avery knows the feeling of simply wanting to be accepted for himself. That's why he's going to ensure that the city government continues to recognize Pride month and creates programs that help vulnerable LGBTQ+ people. And advocate for gender affirming care.

The LGBTQ+ community

Avery has worked in the utilities industry in the past. And knows the city would be better served by taking back control of the electrical grid. He will fight for the city to investigate switching to a city government controlled electric agency distributor similar to city water works. Or applying to have NH Electric Co-op take over electrical distribution. Both ways would give the city a say in how the electrical grid and electric supply are managed and paid for. Private electricity distributors answer to investors, not to the communities they serve. They have no incentive to lower energy prices or find more sustainable energy sources. And all profits can be put back into making energy rates lower if the city or NH Co-op manages the city's electricity.
